About this Event
5 hours spread over 1 week – Mon-Fri, 1-hr each day 1-2pm
This writing workshop is delivered over ZOOM (get it here for free at https://zoom.us/). It’s simple to set up and use.
You’ll be part of a focused group of no more than ten.
You’ll have the chance to write and read out short scene examples as you learn, receiving immediate feedback from the group and myself. This is a potent way of learning and always good fun.
Each 60-minute session will run on for a further 30-min bonus interactive chat, for me to deal with your questions about the session’s content.
You’ll learn to avoid the traps that cause almost every beginner to not finish their story(s) or be dissatisfied with the result.
You’ll learn the essential secret behind story preparation, not only so you’ll complete your stories, but also to create a good, compelling read that gets the best out of you.
You’ll learn about creating interesting characters, delivering intriguing starts, gripping middles and climatic endings!
You’ll finish on Friday with a strong outline of a story, with some scenes drafted (between-session work is encouraged too, but not compulsory).
You’ll be emailed each day’s content – so you don’t forget it!
Five consecutive afternoon sessions 1-2pm, Monday – Friday, 7th-11th September 2020.
Your group gets a private facebook group to chat, share and interact with each other (I’ll also be monitoring to answer questions).
Once you purchase your place you will receive the week’s ZOOM link.
Your spot will be reopened for purchase, but due to the small number of people, a refund is only possible if someone takes your place or the workshop is cancelled. You can transfer your place to a friend by emailing me their details to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 24 hours before the start of the first session.
What people say about the workshop:
5.0 stars –– A thoroughly enlightening week! Tons of expert advice, presented in an encouraging manner. It gave me a new confidence in my abilities as a writer and ideas for possible future short stories – and maybe that first novel! Small group meant it was very friendly and personal and there was ample time for everyone to discuss their work and / or progress. Jane Shotliff
4.8 stars — As a complete novice I found this creative writing course enjoyable, informative and inspiring. I would recommend it to new and advanced writers looking for a refresh. When face to face groups are not possible, this online course was ideal, accessible and professional. I feel equipped and motivated to begin that book that has been waiting to emerge for a very long time. Anon
4.8 stars — This is the second course/group I have attended and the first online. I have enjoyed both of them for different reasons and the online course suited my needs perfectly. The course was encouraging, enjoyable and enabling. Linda Leonard
